It was 6:00 pm, my friends and I were bored, tired, hungry, and cranky. Andrew had the remote, "You guys up for a fourth episode of The Simpsons?"
"Heck no, I'm starving, weren't we going to get food?" I responded, a bit more snappy than he probably deserved.
"We WERE, and we couldn't decide on a place to go, so Andrew started another episode!" Thank you Mike, the mediator. But my crankiness struck again:
"I thought we decided we were going to go MaMagoo's! Their subs are longer and better than any other place, I could probably eat an entire large one!" Hopefully, the logos reasoning would get through their famished heads.
Unfortunately, Mike was not convinced. "That place is too trashy, I want something real like Stone Hearth Pizza. I'm in the mood for pizza."
"No way," I responded, "I have so many bad memories of that place with my ex, I don't want to ever go back there." If logos doesn't work, maybe they will understand the pathos side of things.
This time it was Andrew who wouldn't get it. "Scott, that was 8 weeks ago, it's just a restaurant, it's got the best pizza anywhere, and you need to get over her anyway. We're getting REAL food tonight. Coming?" Gah, if only I had used ethos earlier, I could have gotten what I wanted. It goes to show, you need to know what kind of evidence your audience is looking for to convince them what you want. But hey, maybe a fresh take on an old scene would be good for me. Plus, they were right: the pizza there is second to none.

fun story, which combo's the various persuasive appeals and food--and entertainment value! This is a really great way of looking at how ethos, pathos and logos work together or against one another in an argument. bravo.
whoah that was really good! your story was so clever and entertaining. great way of using EPL all at once!
