How many times have you guys typed out a text message, read it once, read it again, and then wondered for several minutes if it is what you really want to say in the few words you have? How many times have you revised a text? How many times have you just started over from the beginning and re-typed the whole thing? It's something about getting the message just right that makes it hard to decide when your words are actually good enough to say what you want. But is each revision a different message? No... They just have different implications and emphases that somehow make a difference.
Why is it such a big deal? Do you ever get a text and think, "Gee, I wonder why they put so much emphasis on that phrase?" Probably not (unless you have some sort of fascination with them and are determined to figure out any hidden meanings). This proves the power in words; each one connotates very specific meanings. Any improper usage can result in confusion, or worst-case miscommunication, and you have to get back on the same page.
And if simple communication wasn't hard enough, think of the menu writers at restaurants. They have to pack as many synonyms to "delicious" as they can in their 15-word blurbs for every item on the menu. How do you correctly phrase everything in the dish that succinctly in a way that makes your mouth water? Next time you look at a menu, take a moment to appreciate it.

I do this all the time with texting without even realizing it. And not only do you have to find the right words to get across what you want to say, but you have to hope that ,over texting, they understand the right tone and meaning, or how you are saying it.
That is me!! I write, erase, write, erase a text until it is just perfect. I have learned I just like calling people instead now. Texting takes forever too. You nailed it brawskie
I never realized that the power of my words were why i revised my texts, great point!
