Recognizing Gratitude
So, every Thanksgiving it is easy to start thinking about things you're thankful for, but really, once you get started on the list, it seems there is no end. It's easy to say, "thanks for my family, my friends, my stuff..." etc., but that is not even scraping the surface of how bad things would be without those things. Keep in mind that everything in your life shapes you and develops you, and that you can't quite understand how important they are until they are gone. Let me ask you, how would it feel if I took away your phone? A book of yours? A picture? A shoe? I could mention any trivial thing you own, and every aspect of it will somehow come to light. Once you realize how important EVERYTHING is to you, you realize how lucky you actually are. Going that in-depth is what I think Thanksgiving is all about.
